Determining Eligibility is a case by case determination and is based on an individuals lack of a regular, fixed, and adequate nighttime residence (see examples below).
Your school-age children may qualify for certain rights and protections under the McKinney Vento Education of Homeless Children and Youth Assistance Act.
These rights and protections include:
*Free school meals. Conway qualifies students who directly qualify for free meals through a variety of assistance programs, including Basic Food Benefits, Medicaid, TANF, or McKinney Vento. Families do not need to fill out an application or other paperwork.
* Enrolling immediately in school, even if lacking documents normally required for enrollment
* Attending your school of origin (The last school enrolled or last school district where your student was permanently housed)
* Transportation to and from the school
* Free and appropriate education services
Examples Include:
* Doubled up with other people due to loss of housing, economic hardship or similar reasons
* Living in a motel, hotel or campground due to lack of adequate alternative accommodation
* Living in an emergency or transitional shelter
* Living in cars, parks, bus station or public spaces

If the district determines someone is ineligible, we will provide you with a copy of the determination in writing and the dispute resolution process.
For any parent/guardian that disagrees with a decision, they may appeal by completing the following Dispute Resolution Form.
