Program and Curriculum

Teaching and learning for young children is best as an ongoing, flexible process where children construct their own understanding through relationships and interactions with others, and the materials in the environment. Invitations for relationships are embedded in our carefully planned environment.

Throughout our environment we offer children challenging open-ended materials to encourage investigation and discovery. We provide time for children's self initiated play, both indoors and outdoors, as well as time to be contributing to the group.

CELP uses an emergent project based curriculum. The class is assessed through Washington State Early Learning and Development Guidelines, which gives us all an understanding of where each child is and what goals must be attained to make successful readers, writers, and math mathematicians.

Your children will be encouraged to develop their critical thinking skills while also pursuing standards to prepare them for the transition into our kindergarten program.
