We are in our 14th year at Conway with a visual arts program.
Conway has had the arts for children past and present ranging from K-8.
Currently I work with grades 4-8 in visual arts.
Dependent upon grade level I work with students in 2d and 3d arts and crafts projects, important techniques and processes using a wide variety of media, material, themes and integration of learning content. I also include the other disciplines of art, aesthetics, art history and critique.
Clay work has always been the favorite at all grade levels. We are back with our hands and energy into earth to fire clay. At this juncture I can safely say I have fired at least 450 clay pieces for grades K-8 (2-2016). I offer extra time for K-3 so that all students are offered at opportunity and the great experience of working with clay, glazing and the scientific process.
We are also working with varied devices (phones, chromebooks) to explore film and photography in grades 6-8. I have a slideshow of 8th grade photography after walks around campus and the neighborhood as well as the first iMovie of the year from 7th grade with the theme "Home."
My classroom is a community. Without the children helping in the art room and feeling at ease, creative and motivated, this program would not be able to show the amazing creative opportunities and work accomplished each week, year and worked on right now. Enjoy the photos of work now and throughout the year to see what, how and why we are making art.

More to come.
